Not exactly what we planned, but a good time in California.

Between Suzanne’s broken ankle and the weather in the Sierra Nevada Mountains we’ve made a lot of changes to our itinerary this year.  For the most part, it’s been toned down with a minimum of nature and hiking venues.  However, we’ve had opportunities to spend time “living” in a number of interesting places.  Since we left Arizona in late February, we’ve stayed in Escondido, Temecula, Santa Barbara, the northern end of the Central Valley, and Lodi.  Although they all have outrageous traffic, they each have a funky CA vibe of their own.  We’ve seen the local interest points, walked many of the parks, tasted (a lot of) wine, caught some music, and explored cool places.  As a bonus, we’ve experienced the beauty of rural CA in Spring when everything is green.  Next up for us is Lake Tahoe followed by Great Basin National Park in eastern Nevada.  Then we start the long trip back to New York for the Summer.

Given our lack of glamorous experiences, we haven’t had much material to post since our National Park visits in September.  Our next post will likely be from Great Basin National Park in late April.

Our latest additions are the Santa Barbara Wine Tasting Wrapup and Central California Wine Tasting Wrapup. We added a new National Park Ratings chart under “other stuff”.
Our latest travel plans can be found on the Schedule page.
The National Park visit summaries from last Fall are posted in Posts.
