In the past couple of months we’ve been fortunate to visit with friends that go back more than 35 years. We stayed just outside New Freedom PA in October to see Robyn and Dave Barone. In November we camped near Wake Forest, NC to see Laurie and Marv Baker. In our retirement, one of the things we planned to do is get together with very good friends whom we haven’t seen much for a long time due to distance, family responsibilities, and the like. It was really great to spend time with the Barones and the Bakers. These are people we grew up with as we turned into adults. People who made a difference in our lives. It’s funny – it was like we played cards with them the week before – totally at ease, completely familiar, and unguarded. They are all doing well and raised great families.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the four of them on a more regular basis going forward as well as catching up with a number of other friends and relatives we haven’t seen in a while.
