If you are wondering why there are so many pictures for just a 3 hour dinner, it really was so much more than than a “dinner”. Thanks to a lovely gift from our children, this was a dining experience of a lifetime. It is ‘e, one of Jose Andres’ restaurants located within Jaleo within the Cosmopolitan Casino in Vegas. It was a small intimate gathering of nine fellow diners, with the chefs preparing our courses (22 in all) in front of us. From the time we arrived, we were treated like royalty. From the 6-7 chefs, the sommelier pouring and explaining the wine parings to the constant change-out of dishes, silverware, the service was impeccable.
The creativity of each dish was astounding and the visual presentations made not only each course a taste sensation but also a feast for the eyes as well. The attention to detail of each and every course was amazing as the chef delicately placed flowers, herbs and other components of the dish with tweezers so that each course was a masterpiece. The tastes were so yummy and so appealingly savory that it was hard to believe that so much flavor could be elicited by such small bites. The chefs were very friendly, answering all of our questions willingly even as they moved deftly from course to course like a well choreographed ballet. Not only did they describe each course as it was presented, but also gave out instructions on how to eat each one to get the most flavor from each bite. Pouring only Spanish wines, the sommelier gave us not only details of each of the wines, but also the history of the wineries, owners and other interesting tidbits of information about the wines themselves. As we finished with their specialty cocktail…an extraordinary gin and tonic, everyone agreed….it was indeed a night to remember.
